FoodPlay Productions coming to Overton | Schools

SALISBURY - Through the sponsorship of Food Lion, FoodPlay Productions will be performing at Overton Elementary School on Thursday, February 17th, from 9:00 am until 9:45 am showcasing their motto, “Turning Kids on to Health Habits.”

As described on the their website, FoodPlay Productions is “...an Emmy Award-winning nutrition media company which tours the nation's schools and special events using the power of live theater and interactive resources to turn kids on to healthy eating and exercise habits.”  FoodPlay Productions was founded in 1982 and is noted, “...for their innovation and effectiveness improving the nutrition and health habits of the nation’s youth.”

FoodPlay Productions’ programs have been created under sponsorship by the US Department of Agriculture, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, and departments of public health and education throughout the country.

Chris Blumenthal, Corporate Philanthropy Manager for Food Lion’s Community Relations Department, discovered that FoodPlay Productions would be touring in North Carolina and nominated Overton Elementary to be part of the NC Tour.
