SALISBURY - A woman from Albemarle was charged with pointing a shotgun at a woman and 9 year old girl in a dispute over chickens.

According to the Rowan Sheriff's Office, Tammy Barbee Thompson, 53, was visiting the home of her ex husband on Bertie Drive in Salisbury on Sunday night.

At some point, chickens belonging to a next door neighbor came onto the property of Thompson's ex-husband, angering the man and his ex wife.

The neighbor, Guadalupe Escobar Mendez, told deputies that Tammy Thompson pointed a shotgun at Mendez and her daughter.  Thompson told deputies she was pointing the gun at the chickens.

Thompson was charged with misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun and released on a written promise to appear in court.
