SALISBURY - One couple's simple desire to adopt a child from China has created a special event to help raise funds for the family, but also bring attention to the very expensive nature of such a process.
Russ Robbins is the Minister of Music at First Baptist Church in Salisbury. He and wife Angela are at the center of the event "Shop to Adopt."
Angela Robbins provided the following to WBTV:
The Robbins are very excited to be adopting a child from China! We started the process in September 2010 and hope to bring home a child in the next year. God gave us both a passion for orphan ministry early in life, and we are praising Him that He has brought us to this point. We treasure your prayers for our journey!
In this process, we've learned that adoption is very expensive, so some local businesses are working together to host a fundraiser for us. The fundraiser will be at Salisbury Academy on May 6 from 2 pm - 5 pm. It’s called “Shop to Adopt” and features Pampered Chef, Thirty One, Creative Memories, Mary Kay, Tupperware, a Serendipity Trunk Show, Stella & Dot, Touchstone Jewelry, PartyLite, a Silent Auction, and a Kindle giveaway. We are touched that these businesses have rallied behind us with so much enthusiasm!
Please feel free to invite family and friends!
Most importantly, please continue to pray for us and our child as we seek God’s will in bringing us together in His time. We are looking forward to sharing with you about God's amazing faithfulness on this journey.
