Rowan Helping Ministries accepts $5000 from Food Lion Foundation | Community Spirit

SALISBURY - Rowan Helping Ministries has received $5,000 from the Food Lion Charitable Foundation just in time for the holiday season to help local residents.  Rowan Helping Ministries will use the gift to provide groceries to help those with limited financial resources as well as provide daily nutritious meals to the hungry.

Food Lion was the first grocery store in the area to establish a food donation program with Rowan Helping Ministries.  Rowan Helping Ministries, 2nd Helping Drivers have been collecting food from Food Lion for over two decades.  Food Lion has sponsored a major fundraiser “Pass the Plate”, in the past, and is funding the Rowan Helping Ministries New Expansion project, Rowan Helping Ministries will rename the Food Pantry,  “The Food Lion Food Center”.

Established in 2001, the Food Lion Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $9 million in grants.
