78 year old man gets best of would be attacker at laundromat
Crime

SALISBURY - A 78 year old Salisbury man was determined that his wallet would not be stolen, even if if he had to get into a fight with a much younger man.

According to the police report, the older man was washing clothes at the laundromat on S. Fulton Street on Thursday afternoon when a young man walked in and asked the older man for the location of a change machine.

The man answered the question then started putting his clothes into a washer, but then he did, the young man grabbed the washer door and slammed it on the older man's arm.  He then tried to take the older man's wallet out of his back pocket.

The older man fought back, jerking away from his attacker, then lunging towards him, grabbing his hair, and screaming for help.

The younger man then pulled away and ran out the door.

The victim was not hurt and he managed to hold on to his wallet.

Police have a vague description of the suspect as a young black man wearing a red sweater.

Anyone with information is asked to call Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333.
