Homes all over Rowan targeted for break ins

SALISBURY - Investigators with the Rowan Sheriff's Office are busy right now with a rash of residential break ins that occurred all over the county in the last few days.

A check of reports shows incidents recently in places like Gold Knob Road, Dooley Road in Cleveland, Mt. Vernon Park Road, Highway 52 in Gold Hill, Highway 152 West in China Grove, Montana Drive in Kannapolis, Earnhardt Road in Salisbury, Wind Swept Way in Rockwell, Chenault Road in Cleveland, and East Villa Woods Drive.

"The bedroom was a mess with clothes strewn all over the place and we noticed a lot of stuff missing, a lot of jewelry stuff," one homeowner told WBTV.  He and his wife came home from vacation to find a back door smashed and many items missing.  "We had a jewelry cabinet, a large one, stood four feet high, they just took it, carried it out with them. I had a couple of briefcases with tax records, my military discharge.  They took a video camera...lot of antique coins, sentimental stuff, grandmothers ring, wedding ring, has a lot of sentimental value."

Items taken from other homes include guns, electronics, jewelry, collectibles, and auto parts. Most of the break ins have occurred during daylight hours when the residents are not at home.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Rowan Sheriff's Office at 704-216-8700.
