14 year old killed in Goodnight Road crash; man charged with drunk driving | Crime

SALISBURY - A 14 year old passenger was killed Sunday morning when the car in which he was riding ran off Goodnight Road and struck a tree, and the driver of the car faces several charges, including driving drunk.

Eric Soto has been identifed as the victim in the crash. 

Francisco Romero Huerta, 34, was booked into the Rowan County jail just after 6:00 pm Sunday night, charged with felony death by vehicle, driving while impaired, exceeding safe speed, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, and not having a driver's license.

Huerta is being held under $1,000,000 bond.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said that high speed was a factor in the crash.  The accident happened around 9 am.

Troopers say three people were in the black Ford Mustang convertible. 

No other vehicles were involved in the accident
