W. Bank Street man found stabbed to death; friends shocked

SALISBURY - Annie Veen Davis can't believe that anyone would ever want to harm Billy Henderson.

"I knew him from birth, and I knew the family he came from, a very good religious family," Davis told WBTV.  "I can't think of anything I could say about Billy that wouldn't be good. I don't know who would even want to harm him."

On Tuesday at 7:34pm, Salisbury Police officers were dispatched to 1405 W. Bank St. Salisbury in reference to a man found inside the home by his caretaker. When police arrived,  officers found the body of William  Allen "Billy"  Henderson, age 68, of the West Bank St address.   Mr. Henderson had stab wounds to the body.  Salisbury Police Investigators were called to the scene.

"We have reason to believe that this situation is not a random event," Salisbury Police Chief Rory Collins told WBTV.   "We do not believe there is reason for alarm in the the community."

No suspect description has been given and there were no signs of forced entry.

"I was shocked, I cannot see anybody doing anything to Billy," Davis said.   "I never even dreamed this type of thing could happen to Billy, he wasn't that type of guy.  I just can't think of who would kill Billy."

Henderson's body was sent to Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

Anyone with information regarding this case please call the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-JAIL(5245). These calls may be made anonymously.
