77 year old man charged with attacking Food Lion worker who was helping him to his car | Crime
KANNAPOLIS - A Salisbury man has been charged with assaulting a woman at a Food Lion in Kannapolis.
According to police, on April 17, the Kannapolis Police Department received a call from a woman at the Food Lion located at 2825 North Cannon Boulevard regarding an assault.
The victim, who is also an employee of Food Lion, said that she helped an elderly man to take groceries to his car. The man was wearing a black suit, had white hair and was approximately six feet tall.
When the two got to the man's car, the man allegedly grabbed the victim by the arms and attempted to push her into the vehicle. The victim began yelling for him to stop and she broke away from his grasp and went inside the business. The suspect then left the scene however a vehicle description was given out.
The investigation developed Mr. Bobby J. Childress as a suspect in the event.
Warrants were later obtained by our agency and he was located yesterday at 1330 Julius Road, Salisbury North Carolina by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Childress was arrested and has been charged with one count of assault on a female.
