Accused "pool hall killer" could face death

SALISBURY - The man accused of gunning down two men after an argument over a pool table may face the death penalty.

John Curtis Lambert was charged with the murders of Larry Thomas Andrews, Jr., and Mickey Wayne Jordan after an argument at a Salisbury bar on June 27.

Police say Lambert had left the bar, then came back and waited two hours before shooting the two men at the square in downtown Salisbury as they were driving away.

Jordan was the target of the attack, according to police.

On Monday Lambert will be in court to be arraigned and could enter a plea.

Cache of stolen goods recovered

SALISBURY - On Wednesday detectives from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded to a tip from a concerned citizen that David Reese Hinson at 7860 Georgia Avenue, Enochville, had a stolen utility trailer in his yard.

Detectives responded and discovered a small utility trailer that had been stolen from the China Grove area around Saturday August 7, 2010. Detectives also discovered numerous other utility trailers on the property and discovered they had also been stolen from various locations around southern Rowan County since early July 2010.

Teenage girl attacked with baseball bat: 'I went unconscious'

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - One teenage girl was hurt, another taken to jail after a baseball bat beatdown witnessed by Salisbury firefighters.

It happened Wednesday night on Statesville Boulevard in front of Fire Station #4 around 7:50 p.m.

According to a report at the Salisbury Police Department, Kayosha Wansley and Shanice Graham were in cars going in opposite directions when they spotted each other.

Both cars stopped and police say Graham walked across the four lane road to confront Wansley.

Police seek stabbing suspect

SALISBURY - Have you seen Willie Earl Williams, Jr.?  If so, Salisbury Police would like to talk to you.

Williams is wanted by police, accused of stabbing Bryon Anderson after the two argued about a woman on July 21.

It happened at 32 Knox Street.

Hedgepeth pleads not guilty; could face death for killing Conover couple

SALISBURY - Frederick Hedgepeth pleaded not guilty today to two counts of murder, but he could face the death penalty when the case goes to trial.

Hedgepeth is accused of killing Jerry and Jody Bullin of Conover.

On Wednesday Hedgepeth pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon in Rowan County Superior Court.

The Bullins were shot to death June 2 and their bodies hidden inside Ingram Motorsports just off I-85, where Hedgepeth was the caretaker.

Sheriff's investigators said that Hedgepeth had made plans to buy a 2009 Honda Accord the Bullins were selling, but instead killed them and drove off with the car.

Several members of the Bullins family and friends of the Bullins were present in court today and made a statement following the arraignment.

“The legacy of our parents’ death is love,” said Jerri-Anne Bullin McDermith, daughter of Jerry and Jo Anne Bullin.

Man busted after pot growing operation found in home

SALISBURY - A Salisbury man is behind bars after deputies say they busted an indoor marijuana growing ring at his home.

Rowan County Deputies say 15 marijuana plants were found in the Tarheel Trail home of 24-year-old Timothy Leon Overcash. 

The plants range in size from 8-inches to 24-inches were found inside of a closet with grow lights and reflectors. 

Rash of car break-ins in Rowan

SALISBURY - A rash of car beak-ins have hit homeowners in Rowan County.

Over the weekend the sheriff's office took reports of at least 8 break-ins involving thousands of dollars worth of personal items taken from vehicles.

The incidents happened at various locations, including Lawndale Drive, Meadow Lane, Wilkinson Road, Airport Road, and Winding Way.

Items taken include GPS units, money, radar detectors, keys, a wallet filled with credit cards, a knife, weather radio, and two pairs of shoes.
