Bogus $100 bill hits Wal-Mart

SALISBURY - Salisbury Police want to know who passed a bogus $100 bill at Wal-Mart last weekend.

The store's manager reported the crime on Monday.

According to the report, the fake bill was used to pay for items at register #22 at the Salisbury store on Saturday.

Salisbury Police Chief Rory Collins says it's unusual to find fake $100's.

"It is not common," Collins told WBTV. "Usually merchants more carefully scrutinize larger bills, so the smaller denominations are usually the ones preferred by counterfeiters.

Police have no leads in the case at this time.
