SALISBURY - A man is in the Rowan County jail under a bond of $1,000,000, charged with attacking a man and a woman at what the sheriff describes as a local "adult establishment."

According to the report, Barry Dean Bledsoe, 50, approached the woman and man as they were leaving Nichole's at 6245 S.

SALISBURY - A "one pot" meth lab has been found in a house in Kannapolis, according to a report from the Rowan Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say that a joint investigation of the RCSO Special Investigations Unit and Kannapolis Police Department turned up the lab in the home of Todd Barbee, 48, of Roberts Drive in Kannapolis. 

Barbee was arrested by KPD for selling meth in Kannapolis, but then the ongoing investigation turned up the small lab in the house.

Barbee is held under $90,000 on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance, possession with the intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of the illegal drug trade, and possession of precursor materials for the manufacture of methamphetamine.

SALISBURY - A Rowan County Sheriff's deputy, spooked at hearing what sounded like gunfire behind him while he was on a call, ended up charging two men with possession of illegal fireworks.

According to the report, the deputy was on an unrelated call in Kannapolis at 22nd and Troutman Road on Tuesday.  He noticed a Toyota Camry behind him and also noticed two men, later identified as Jonathan Moore and Jonathan Cooke.

The deputy said that as he was talking to another person, he suddenly heard loud pops "like gunfire" coming from behind him.  The deputy turned around in time to see Moore and Cooke run back to the Camry and drive away.

The deputy managed to catch up the the Camry and get the men to pull over.  When the deputy searched the car he found 30 bottle rockets and a roll of firecrackers.

Moore and Cooke were both charged on citation with the possession of illegal pyrotechnics.

SALISBURY - Police in Salisbury had quite a bit to deal with over the last 48 hours.  Three separate and unrelated incidents involved violent crime, a close call for one man, and a broken tail light that turned into much more.

On Wednesday night Salisbury Police Officer Jennifer Moreau stopped a car at 524 S. Clay Street for not having working rear lights and for driving left of the center line.

According to the report, the car did pull over, but as Moreau approached she noticed the right rear door opening and a man getting out of the car.  Moreau told the man to stay in the car, but he continued to get out and started to run away.  Moreau drew her taser, and after the man refused her orders again, she used the taser.

SALISBURY - Two people have been charged after deputies say they broke into a home and made off with jewelry.

Detectives with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division began investigating a home break in on Goodson Road.

Detectives found numerous items of jewelry that had been stolen from the home. The jewelry was located at a precious metal dealer in Spencer, and had been sold by Joseph Lleras, of Potneck Road.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence in an effort to recover more of the victim’s stolen property.

During the search, detectives discovered 6 half ounce bags of marijuana in the possession of Lleras.

Sheriff’s investigators also found Amber Deann Wheeler in possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of heroin.

SALISBURY - The loss prevention officer at Kohl's Department store in Salisbury has been charged with felony larceny by employee after a two week investigation.

According to the report, a Kohl's employee suspected that another employee was stealing from the store.  A district level manager began an investigation and noted on surveillance video that it appeared that Rebecca Rodgers, 43, had removed tags from two shirts, then rolled the shirts up and placed them in her handbag.

On Tuesday Rodgers was charged by Salisbury Police.  She was taken to jail and released on $1500 bond.

Rodgers was employed as the store's loss prevention officer.

SALISBURY - His real name is Anthony Todd Bailey, but police have given him the beefy nickname of the "Meat Man" because he seems to like stealing meat from local stores. 

Four months ago Bailey was charged wih taking meat from Walmart, and now he once again faces similar charges.

Bailey, 53, has been charged with habitual larceny, second-degree trespass, misdemeanor larceny and failure to appear. He received a $9,500 secured bond.

Police say that Bailey typically follows the same criminally carnivorous course of walking into the store, heading to to the meat department, putting various meat items in a bag that he carries, then walking out.
