According to the report at the Rowan Sheriff's Office, it all started on Wednesday.  A man who lives on Hurley School Road called deputies to report that when he arrived at his house just before 6:00 pm, he found a woman standing in his carport.  The woman was identified as Penny Monroe, 36, of 411 Webb Road.

The homeowner then saw a man come walking out of his house.  That man was identified as Russell Samples, 40, of 411 Webb Road.

Monroe told the homeowner that the door was open and that Samples simply walked in.  Samples told the homeowner that his car had run out of gas.  The homeowner agreed to take Monroe to get gas.  Once this was done, Monroe and Samples left the house.
