SALISBURY - Police say Richard Miller, 42, only waited a few hours before he started going to pawn shops between Salisbury and Kannapolis to try and pawn thousands of dollars worth of jewelry he stole from K-Mart.
Miller, of 233 Claymont Drive, Salisbury, was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, and obtaining property by false pretense. Bond is set at $100,000.
According to the report, Miller made quick work of taking $14,000 worth of necklances, bracelets, rings, and earrings from the K-Mart jewelry counter on August 10. Within a few hours he was trying to pawn the items.
Someone thought there was something suspicious in Miller's actions, and that meant a call to police that eventually led to his arrest.
Warrants were issued and Miller was arrested late Wednesday night.
