Man dressed as woman who tried to rob Salisbury Walmart hit Lexington Food Lion thirty minutes later

SALISBURY - The man who unsuccessfully tried to rob the Walmart in Salisbury at 2:51 am was no more successful when he hit the Food Lion in Lexington just thirty minutes later, according to police.

In Salisbury the man went to a cash register, threatened to shoot the worker and demanded money from the cash drawer.  He did not show a gun, but did stick his hand in a pocketbook, making the worker think that he was carrying a weapon.  The clerk refused to open the drawer, then stepped back and yelled for a manager.  The man then tried to force the register open, but when he couldn't get into the drawer, he ran from the store.

Thirty minutes later police say the same man tried to rob a Food Lion near Highway 52 and US 64 in Lexington.  He made the same demands, but again, the worker refused to cooperate, so the man ran out of the store and into the waiting car.
