Police investigate "suspicious" house fire | News

SALISBURY - Calling it "suspicious," police and fire investigators are sifting through what's left of a home in a Salisbury neighborhood.

The fire broke out at 1021 Ashwood Place near the Crane Creek area just after 4 am Tuesday morning.

Neighbors told WBTV that the front of the home was engulfed in flames and that flames were rising above the tree tops in the cul de sac.

Police investigators said they considered the origin of the fire to be "suspicious."  They say it appears the fire may have started outside of the house, possibly on the front porch.

The occupants of the home were able to escape without injury.
