Driver dies after crashing into house

SALISBURY - Curtis Brinkley, 46, has been identified as the man who died in a car crash just after 2 pm Thursday afternoon off Camp Road.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported that the Ford Aspire driven by Brinkley crossed Camp Road and slammed into a house, knocking the home off its foundation.

At the scene one trooper told WBTV that the fact that Brinkley was not wearing a seatbelt was a critical factor in the seriousness of the injuries.

Brinkley was taken by ambulance to the nearby Rowan County Airport, then airlifted to NC Baptist Hospital.  He died there Thursday afternoon.
