First day of school captured for Facebook | Schools

SALISBURY - Across North Carolina 1.5 million students are saying goodbye to summer and hello to the classroom as school gets underway, and for a growing number of social media savvy adults, the event is being documented on Facebook.

The Facebook news feed on Monday morning was filled with pictures of students, many holding book bags, as they prepared to head to school.

Some parents created signs marking the date and the names of the teachers for their child's first ever first day of school, while other parents continued the tradition that may have started many years ago of capturing the moment in a picture, then sharing it with friends and family all over the world through social media.
