MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTV) - Coastal Carolina Football coach Dave Bennett did his best cat impression – at least three times – during a press conference Wednesday.
After the Chants big win over Furman last week, Bennett wanted to make sure his players don't overlook Catawba College in Salisbury this week.
He was trying to explain how his football players need to act "more like dogs" instead of cats, who would presumably lose the game.
But, during the press conference, he squealed like a cat several times and contorted his body to imitate cat actions. (Be sure to watch the video)
He tried to compare living in a house near 12 cats to how his football team is letting cats in – or acting like cats -- or something.
"12 cats live across the road," he said, explaining that a broken screen door allowed a cat in. "I turned and looked there is a little kitty cat in our kitchen. I said 'what are you doing in here little kitty cat?' By that time ‘Murrrah' (imitating a cat howl)' the cat turns… the cat starts going ‘Meowwww, weahhhh'!"
Bennett turned his head and shook his body to imiatating a trapped cat.
"I told our players ‘We need more dogs.' " Bennett then said. "I told our players 'I tried to let the cat out the front door. Meowwwww. Aaarrah.'" (This time Bennett does extended cat imitation.)
"The cat's still going crazy in there!" Bennett then yelled.
"I told our players you need to act more like a dog. We don't need more cats up in here. ‘Meow! looking in the mirror'," he said in another cat imitation.
Bennett then imitated his players -- or maybe a cat -- primping.
"Be a dog! We don't need no ‘meows' we don't need no cats," he finished.
