Georgia man abandons woman on 85 in Rowan | Weird

SALISBURY - A Rowan County Sheriff's deputy found a woman on Interstate 85 Friday who had been abandoned by her Virginia bound companion.

The woman, 30, told deputies she was driving a truck from Georgia to Virginia when the man she was riding with began hitting her.  She told the deputy that the man was drunk.  She pulled the truck to the side of 85 near exit 71 and stepped out of the truck.

The woman told the deputy that the man then got behind the wheel and took off.

The woman told the deputy that the man was drunk and that he was driving without a license.

The deputy took the woman to the Holiday Inn, where she called her husband and spent the night.

The next day she told the deputy that she did not want to press charges against the man who left her.  The report does not indicate how the woman was related to the man in the truck, but they may have been coworkers.

Since the woman withdrew the complaint against the man, the case is closed and no charges will be filed.
