Photo Gallery | "Oh Christmas Geeks, Oh Christmas Geeks..."
SALISBURY - From the IT Department, Catawba College: Since y’all got such a kick out of Pumpkina, I thought you would probably like to see our other computer recycling creation.
Our Christmas tree was first decorated with IT stuff last year (CD discs and photo ornaments made from novelty discs), but we really took it up a notch this year and made it completely IT related – from tree top angel to tree skirt at the bottom – so I thought y’all would like to see the 2012 edition. J
The photos in the gallery include: the Full tree, in all its geeky glory
The Tree skirt – this is new this year, and yes, those are old mouse pads (duct taped together on the back – we can pull the tape off and use them as mouse pads again, if needed LOL)
Next photo is the 2 types of Ornaments (more about each one follows)
The Recycled CD ornament is a CD, of course, and the glittery stuff is shredded CDs (glued on face of old CD)
My favorite is the Photo ornament – these are novelty business card discs, with a photo of each department person glued on
And finally this year’s piece de resistance – the Geeky angel on top
Angel parts: Mouse makes part of her body (she is stuck down into the only non-IT part – a clear plastic drinking cup with bottom cut out), her head is mouse roller ball, her halo is round cover that you twist off to get mouse roller ball out, her hair is copper wire yanked out of an old CPU, her “glasses” are little plastic parts underneath keys on a laptop, her mouth is red wire from inside old CPU, skirt is the drinking cup with more CD shreds glued on it, belt around top of skirt is braided from colored wires inside old CPU, and her wings are a gold Memorex CD that was broken in half)
Please stop by and see our tree if you get a chance – it will make you smile! J
