SALISBURY - Call it another hit for the PIT team.  The Police Interdiction Team (PIT) arrested five men and took three guns and a quantity of drugs off the streets.

According to the report, officers noticed a group of 8 men walking together in an area near Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard and Cooper Street on Wednesday night.  The men were wearing bandannas and colors associated with the "8 Trey Crips" gang.

When police approached, one of the men threw a handgun to the ground.  Police then pulled their weapons and made the men get on the ground.  A search of the men turned up two more guns.  All three guns, a Rohm .22 revolver, a Hi Standard .22, and an RG .38, were fully loaded.

Police say all three guns are revolvers.  Investigators say revolvers are becoming more popular among some criminals because they don't leave shell casings behind that can be used for evidence.

Police also discovered several baggies containing marijuana that was packaged and ready for sale.

During the search officers also discovered several cans of blue spray paint and noticed that some of the men had blue paint on their hands and fingers.  Police then checked the area and discovered fresh spray paint on the wall of a business.

Five of the eight me were charged.  One, Tasman Jamal Stockdale, is out of jail on $2500 bond.  Stockdale was charged with injury to property.
